How to Clean Your Makeup Brushes (and Fast!)

Frequently (and properly) washing your brushes helps prevent the growth and spread of harmful bacteria, eliminates product build-up and makeup residue, and protects your brush investment. We recommend cleaning your brushes every week, but the more often you do it, the better!

STEP 1

Apply 1-3 pumps of your favorite brush cleanser directly onto wet brush fibers or the WASH texture of your Sigma Spa® brush cleaning tool. tool. We love our hypoallergenic, all-natural SigMagic® Brushampoo™ Liquid or Foam for this!

Many of our brush care products feature REFINE and REFINE PLUS textures for an added deep clean. If you're using a product with those textures, repeat steps 1-3.

STEP 5

Once you're done rinsing your brush, gently squeeze the bristles to remove excess water.

5. SQUEEZE IT

Gently squeeze brush bristles to remove excess water.

STEP 6

Place your damp brush upside down to dry. This is very important for protecting your brush investment. Drying brushes upside down helps prevent moisture from sitting in or seeping into the ferrule which can cause damage and shedding. We love our Sigma Dry’N Shape® Tower products for this because they're uniquely designed to hold brushes upside down. The elastic bands squeeze-dry bristles to restore their shape and function while cutting your drying time in half!
